Lights! Camera! Arkansas! Authors / Curators to give multimedia talk at FSMH on Aug. 4, 2026

Authors Robert Cochran and Suzanne McCray will visit FSMH Event Room (upstairs) on Tuesday, August 4 at 6 pm to discuss their 2015 book and give a presentation featuring film clips and more about the people and locations of Arkansas that made history on the silver screens of film and television.
Popcorn will be provided at the August 4 event, and other refreshments will be available for purchase from our 1920s Soda Fountain. Complimentary air conditioning provided with every visit. Copies of this book and others by Robert Cochran will be available for purchase. FSMH Members get a 10% discount in the Museum Store & Gift Shop.
Drs. Cochran and McCray also curated the traveling exhibit of the same name from Arkansas Heritage Old State House Museum on display in the Boyd Gallery (downstairs) through August 8. Hear the talk, see the exhibit, and buy the book all in one visit!

Dr. Robert Cochran is a Professor of English whose research and teaching interests in folklore, contemporary literature, and American Studies are reflected in his publications and awards. As a biographer, Cochran documented the lives and works of notable literary figures including Louise Pound and the self-proclaimed “hack writer,” Vance Randolph - the folklorist who became known as “Mr. Ozark.” Dr. Cochran joined the University of Arkansas faculty in 1976, and has served as director of the Center for Arkansas and Regional Studies, editor of “The Arkansas Character” series by U of A Press, and an exemplary contributor to mixed-media literature of the region.
Dr. Suzanne McCray is the Vice Provost for Enrollment, Dean of Admissions, and Director of Nationally Competitive Awards at University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Dr. McCray’s leadership in programs assisting U of A students build strong applications to secure graduate funding, study abroad, and gain professional experience is matched in her service to organizations including the National Association of Fellowship Advisors, Critical Language Scholarship Program, and more. Dr. McCray’s literary contributions include editing and co-editing a number of publications on these areas of expertise, her doctoral dissertation analyzing the animal imagery in a book series set before and during the Second World War.
