The Fort Smith Museum of History hosts events year round to educate and enrich the local community about the history of Fort Smith.

    The course will expose the student to historical points of interest within the Fort Smith area and include classroom instruction, guest speakers, field trips, and guided tours of historic locations within the area. $50 per person for the entire course.

    On April 25th, 2026, Fort Smith will be hosting its America’s 250th Celebration as part of Fort Smith Darby Days. The event honors veterans past and present and includes the Fort Smith General Darby Challenge Half-Marathon and Ruck.

    The FSMH will host its inaugural Brew on the Border on Saturday, July 25, 2026. This indoor craft beverage festival invites guests to experience the museum in an entirely new way, where curated tastings, live entertainment, and history come together for a one-of-a-kind evening.

The Fort Smith Museum of History is located in the old downtown of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Being the oldest functioning museum in the state, we present a fascinating reflection of the people and culture that built the city and area.
