The following is an important announcement regarding the re-opening of the Fort Smith Museum of History in response to the Coronavirus pandemic and the precautions we feel are important to institute at this time.
Effective Tuesday June 2, 2020, the Fort Smith Museum of History will re-open to the public on a limited basis and to MEMBERS ONLY. We will open from 10:00-4:00 Tuesday-Saturday.
The Fort Smith Museum of History will re-open on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 to MEMBERS ONLY. We will operate with restricted hours, from 10:00-4:00 Tuesday-Saturday while remaining closed on Sunday and Monday. An opening date for the general public will be given at further notice.
Per the State of Arkansas directives, restrictions, requirements, and recommendations for opening phasing:
Masks WILL BE REQUIRED for entry and WILL BE REQUIRED as face coverings by visitors during their visit inside the museum.
Groups must be 10 or less at this time.
Social distancing measures will be in place.
Other necessary directional signs will be posted and staff will be happy to help you with any of your questions or concerns.
At this time, the traditional ice cream menu will not be available at the soda fountain counter.

Free parking is available in front of the Museum and in the parking lot to the west of the building. Metered parking is available along Rogers Avenue and South 4th Street. There are two spots designated for disabled parking to the east of the building on South 4th Street.
The Museum is accessible to wheelchair users and other visitors who need to avoid stairs. An accessible entrance is located on the east side of the building on South 4th Street. An elevator and a ramp provide access to all exhibition areas. Restrooms are ADA compliant. A wheelchair is available free of charge at the front desk on a first-come, first-served basis.
Service animals are welcome in the Museum.
Still photography is permitted for private, noncommercial use. Photographs cannot be published, sold, reproduced, transferred, distributed, or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever. Occasionally, photography may not be permitted in temporary exhibitions, depending on the lender. The use of flash is prohibited at all times and in all exhibits.
